Originally released in 2018, hasn't been available digitally until now. Since bandcamp friday fell on Nov 5th this month, I figured now was a good time to make this available digitally. Seven years ago today my best friend from the age of five killed himself, he was 27, i was 26, 21 years of close friendship came to an end, but the grief lives on. Obviously, I wanted him to live, and I wanted him to get better, but he was dealing with hardcore paranoid schizophrenia, seeing people that weren't there, people he thought were trying to hurt him, hallucinating that his loved ones were trying to hurt him, to the point where he'd attack his loved ones to get them before they tried to get him; to put it bluntly, he truly is better off dead, but I did want him to get better and I do miss him very much. Grief ebbs and flows, some years on this day I came quite close to taking my own life, too. Other years, like last year, I was surprisingly not too sad about it. Today, I feel sad, but not i'm-thinking-about-killing-myself sad, at least not at the moment I am writing this. The eponymous track, Hang In There, is inspired by being told to 'hang in there' by friends after i'd express to them how much i was struggling. That track goes out to them. I'm still hanging in there, after all this time. In some ways I am doing better than ever, actually. Currently working on an album that'll express how I'm doing better. Until then, tell the people you love that you love them. Be kind to each other. We need each other. Community is important. Eat the oligarchy.
As Deuce Avenue, Noah Anthony explores an unhurried, warm style of drone music that is less abrasive and more subliminally soothing. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 10, 2020
The Melbourne band hide painful truths within dissonant, jagged art pop arrangements; an ennui-laden take on the new wave revival.
